Visitor Information Shed

Visitor information services have been provided spasmodically in the past, however on December 23rd, 2002, the Mallacoota Community Association Visitor Information Shed commenced operation in the old green shed on the Main Wharf at the bottom of Allan Drive.

The 'Old Green Shed' had a colourful past, having being used for the unloading of Abalone from fishing boats for transfer to trucks for transportation. Then more recently it was used as a booking office for boat cruises on the lake system, before laying idle for approximately 6 months, before being acquired for an information centre.

The Shed still belongs to the Port Authority, and the Mallacoota Community Association pays rental on a three monthly basis.

In 2004 paint was donated to brighten up the Shed, and it was painted white with blue guttering, then two local artists approached the Shed Committee with an offer to paint a mural on the Shed, as they had heard that the committee was trying to find someone to give the 'Old White Shed' a face lift.

So in March 2005 there was an official un-veiling celebration of the final wall of the mural, with many locals coming down to join in the fun. The artists have done a fantastic job, and is a credit to their talents.

If you come to Mallacoota, you must head down to the Main Wharf and have a look.
